History of Hotel OLYMP Munich

In 1970, my parents, Anita and Andreas Riemensperger, opened Hotel OLYMP Munich with 22 rooms—at that time as a Hotel Garni without a restaurant. Every room already featured its own bathroom with a shower and toilet, which was very progressive for the time. Every morning, they hung the Süddeutsche Zeitung on the guests’ doors, and shoes left outside the rooms were polished. Texas Instruments was one of our first clients.

The 1972 Olympic Games brought international flair to Munich, and our hotel was full day and night. The whole world was our guest. When guests began asking for more than just cold snacks, the extension with a restaurant followed in 1986. The legendary house balls also remain unforgettable, where celebrations often lasted from 6 PM until 6 PM the following day. In 1990, we expanded the hotel by adding 27 apartments.

In 2011, I took over the management as the second generation. Under my leadership, we built the Apollo building in 2014. The focus was on digitalization, sustainability, and the expansion of renewable energies. As a driver for new software and through our commitment to DEHOGA Bavaria, we always stay ahead of the curve. Today, we combine tradition with innovation—through continuous modernization, high service quality, and a clear commitment: the most important part of a company is the people.

What sets us apart: we have never stood still. Through constant renovation, further development, and genuine hospitality, we have established ourselves as a reliable partner for business and leisure travelers since 1970.

I am Christopher Riemensperger, a host by conviction, a second-generation hotelier, and an entrepreneur with clear values. I combine tradition with curiosity, and professionalism with humanity. Appreciation, authenticity, and solution-oriented action are particularly important to me—towards guests, partners, and my team. Because sustainable success is created where people enjoy being and enjoy working.
